Membership Application

Criteria for Membership

• Ordinary (Pharmaceutical) Members
  All persons, partnerships or bodies corporate carrying on business in the Republic of South Africa as manufacturers or distributors of medicines which are promoted mainly to the medical, dental, nursing and pharmaceutical professions and are not promoted generally to the public, or manufacturers or distributors of pharmaceutical chemicals, all bodies corporate and/or trading divisions of ordinary members (subsidiary Companies of ordinary members) that carry on business in the Republic of South Africa as manufacturers or distributors of medicines, shall be eligible to apply for ordinary membership.
• Associate Membership
  All persons, partnerships or bodies corporate carrying on business in the Republic of South Africa in any one or more of the following business activities:
  • Clinical research for profit;
  • Contract research and development services for PIASA members;
  • Contract manufacturing/packaging services of finished dosage form products for PIASA members;
  • Providers to PIASA members of advertising or communication services to health professions.
  An Associate member shall have all the rights of Ordinary Members except the right to Vote and will not be eligible to be elected to the Executive Council or any of its formal standing Committees viz. Marketing and SciTech.
  
  An Associate member may be asked to serve on an Expert Working Group [EWG] at the recommendation of the Chairperson of such an EWG subject to approval by the Chief Operating Officer of the PIASA.
  
  The annual fee structure is equivalent to Category 1 applicable to ordinary members.
